Frans Viljoen

D. from the University of Pretoria and LL.M. from the University of Cambridge, Professor of Law at the Human Rights Centre, Faculty of Law, University of Pretoria and former Director of the Human Rights Centre (2007-2023). He is a member of the Advisory Committee of the UN Human Rights Council, and founding editor and publisher of the African Human Rights Law Journal, as well as founding coordinating editor of the African Human Rights Yearbook/Annuaire africain des droits de l'homme. He is the current president of the Association of Human Rights Institutes.
